What perennial flower grows to a height above 4 ft. tall and spreads thickly?

Hollyhocks (sp). I planted some this year. They grow about 6%26#039; tall and flower all summer.
What perennial flower grows to a height above 4 ft. tall and spreads thickly?
Many of the so called decorative grasses grow well above 4 feet high and spread rapidly.


If you want flowers there are many bushes that have flowers too.

Reply:Hydrangea%26#039;s will do that, but they take a couple of years to really reach maturity.
